| I’ve been creating abstract paintings, sculptures and constructions everywhere I have been for the past 40 years: New York to L.A., San Francisco and now here in Southern Oregon.
I began painting bent guitars and banjos as backdrop for staging areas of late 50’s coffee houses and continued to do abstract musicians, landscapes and mountainscapes to hang on the walls as atmosphere for that scene.
I got really involved with minimalism and moved to New York City in the mid 60’s. After a time The City really overwhelmed me so I headed west again, selling my art in street fairs, galleries and cafes along the way.
I’ve always been attracted to wood: the grains, the textures and the knot holes. Of late I’ve been using found wood and incorporating the as-is splits, texture and know holes into abstract land and mountainscapes and then finding the right color palette to make each piece work. | |
